The short version
- Aurora stores account, cycle, mood, partner-connection, quiz, purchase-entitlement, and notification information needed to run the app.
- Your connected partner can see shared cycle information, moods, and quiz activity. Connect only someone you trust.
- Aurora does not send period dates, moods, partner details, or quiz answers to Google for advertising.
- The app requests non-personalized banner ads and uses a consent flow before Google Mobile Ads can be requested.
- You can request deletion of your Aurora account and associated server-side app data from inside the app.
1. Scope and operator
This Privacy Policy applies to the Aurora iOS application, this website, and related support (together, the “Service”). Aurora is operated by Akos Kis-Kallo (“Aurora,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This policy covers data handled through Aurora. Third-party services have their own policies, which are linked below.
2. Data Aurora handles
| Category | Examples | Why it is needed |
|---|---|---|
| Account and profile | Aurora/Supabase user ID, Sign in with Apple identifier, display name, partner nickname, authentication session, and any email or private relay email Apple provides to Supabase Auth. | Authenticate you, keep your account available across devices, and display the names you choose inside the app. |
| Cycle and health-related entries | Period start and end dates, mood date and selected mood, plus cycle phases, fertile-window timing, and other estimates derived from period dates. | Show the calendar, timeline, mood check-ins, and estimates you request. Derived estimates may be calculated in the app and are not medical conclusions. |
| Partner connection | Relationship ID, invite code and its hash, cycle-owner and partner account IDs, connection status, relationship start date, and timestamps. | Connect one partner, authorize shared access, and let either person disconnect. |
| Quiz activity | Daily quiz ID and date, question IDs, selected choices, completion status, and answer timestamps. | Save answers, reveal results at the right time, calculate match summaries, and show limited quiz history. |
| Notifications | Expo push token, platform, notification-event records, and the generic notification payload needed for delivery. Lock-screen mood alerts do not include the selected mood label. | Notify a connected partner about a mood update or completed daily quiz after notification permission is granted. |
| Purchases | Aurora user ID, App Store product and purchase history, entitlement status, and price/offer information. | Offer the one-time remove-ads purchase, confirm access, and restore purchases through RevenueCat and Apple. |
| Ads and technical data | Consent status and data the Google Mobile Ads SDK may process, such as IP address, general location inferred from IP, device or app identifiers, ad impressions/interactions, crash logs, and performance data. | Determine whether ads may be requested, serve non-personalized banner ads, prevent abuse, and measure or troubleshoot ad delivery. |
| On-device preferences | Remove-ads status, IDs of quiz results already viewed, and local test/demo state when that mode is used. | Remember app state and preferences on your device. |
| Support communications | Your email address and any information you choose to include when contacting support. | Investigate your request and reply to you. |
| Website visits | GitHub Pages may process standard request and usage data such as IP address, browser/device details, requested page, referring page, and date and time. | Host and secure this website. Aurora’s website code does not add analytics, advertising scripts, contact forms, or its own cookies. |
3. How data is used
We use the data described above only as reasonably necessary to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure Aurora accounts;
- sync cycle entries, moods, partner connections, and quiz activity;
- calculate and display cycle estimates;
- share selected app information with the connected partner as described below;
- deliver requested notifications;
- show a non-personalized banner ad or verify a remove-ads purchase;
- provide support, debug failures, prevent misuse, and protect the Service; and
- meet legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
We do not use period dates, moods, partner details, or quiz answers to personalize advertising.
5. What your connected partner can see
A connected partner can view cycle dates and estimates, shared moods, daily quiz activity, answers/results when available, and other shared relationship context shown in the app. The partner view cannot log or edit periods.
The cycle owner can disconnect a partner, and the partner can leave the connection. Disconnecting removes the partner’s future in-app access, but it cannot retrieve information the partner previously saw, remembered, exported, or captured outside Aurora.
6. Ads, consent, and tracking
The free version of Aurora displays a Google banner ad. Aurora asks Google’s User Messaging Platform for the consent status that applies in your region and does not request an ad unless that flow reports that ads may be requested. When a privacy-options entry point is required, it is available in the app’s Profile area.
Aurora requests non-personalized ads. Google states that its Mobile Ads SDK may still collect technical and advertising information—including IP address, device identifiers, ad interactions, crash logs, and performance data—for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, fraud prevention, and diagnostics. Google controls that processing under its own policies and your available consent choices.
Aurora does not pass your period dates, moods, partner details, or quiz answers to Google Mobile Ads. You can remove the banner through a one-time App Store purchase.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep Aurora account and app data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Notification event records and other operational records may be kept as reasonably necessary to prevent duplicate messages, maintain security, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
To delete your Aurora account, open Profile → Account → Delete account and confirm. This requests deletion of your Aurora authentication account and server-side app data associated with it. Data that belongs to a remaining cycle owner may continue to exist without the deleted partner’s account data. Local preferences can remain on the device until app data is cleared or Aurora is removed.
Aurora does not retain the Apple authorization token needed to revoke Sign in with Apple automatically. After deletion, the app shows how to remove Aurora manually from iOS Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple.
Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Expo, and other processors may keep limited records under their own retention policies, including transaction records that must be retained for financial, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before they are overwritten.
8. Security and international processing
Aurora uses encrypted network connections, authentication, and Supabase row-level access controls intended to limit app records to the relevant account or connected relationship. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Service providers may process data in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Their policies describe where they process data and the transfer mechanisms they use; you can contact us with questions about Aurora’s use of those providers.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, receive a portable copy, or withdraw consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
- Profile details: edit the names shown in Aurora from Profile.
- Cycle entries: edit or delete period records in the app.
- Partner access: disconnect from Profile.
- Notifications: change Aurora notification permission in iOS Settings.
- Ad privacy choices: use the privacy-options control in Profile when it is shown for your region.
- Account deletion: use Profile → Account → Delete account.
For a request you cannot complete in the app, email akos@famescale.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Children
Aurora is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 13. Where local law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to digital services, a parent or guardian must provide any consent required by that law. Contact us if you believe a child provided data without appropriate authorization.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Aurora changes or legal requirements evolve. The effective date at the top will be updated when changes are posted. If a change materially affects how previously collected personal data is used, we will provide additional notice when required.
